Army's Rai crowned Liglige king for 2080

By Our Correspondent,Gorkha (Liglig), Oct. 19: Gajendra Rai from the Nepali Army has won the Liglige race. He won by finishing the 13.8-kilometre race, organised on Wednesday by the Ligligkot Development Campaign, in 56 minutes 36 seconds.

As the winner, Rai was crowned the Liglige Wang (King) for the Nepali year 2080. 

Meanwhile, Narendra Singh Rawat, also from the Nepali Army, came second by finishing in 56 minutes 53 seconds. Anish Thapa Magar, who works in the Indian army, finished in 58 minutes and 35 seconds and came third.

Rawat received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and Magar received Rs. 25,000. Those who came fourth and fifth received Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000. 

This was the 11th edition of the Liglige race, which is associated with the establishment of the Shah dynasty in Gorkha.
