By Bhakti Bilash Pokharel,Gaighat, Oct. 18: A temporary bridge is being constructed over the Triyuga River in Chaudandigadhi Municipality-9, Udayapur.
Despite the requirement for a permanent bridge in the area, Chaudandigadhi Municipality has initiated the construction of a temporary bridge due to budget constraints.
The project is expected to be completed at an approximate cost of Rs. 400,000.
This temporary bridge will benefit the locals of Ward Nos.9 and 10 of the municipality. This will connect these wards with Beltar Bazaar and will facilitate access to government services.
Chairman of Ward-9 Prakash Kumar Raut stated that upon completion, the bridge would offer convenience to the local residents for the next six months
The flow of water in the Triyuga River has decreased, allowing locals to easily traverse the river for approximately six months.
This has been facilitated by the placement of two pipes beneath the water surface, spaced at a distance of two meters and covered it with gravel and sand.
He explained that water can flow through the pipe, allowing for the easy operation of light vehicles such as jeeps, cars, mini trucks, minibuses and tractors.
Mayor Kaluman Lama of Chaudandigadhi Municipality announced that the municipality has constructed a mud bridge by laying the hume pipes.
This initiative aims to facilitate easier river crossings for locals during the festival season.
Expressing his disappointment, Mayor Lama said it is disheartening that elected federal and provincial lawmakers from this area frequently make promises of constructing a concrete bridge in the region as election slogans.
However, once they secure their positions, the region is quickly overlooked and neglected, he added.
