International exhibition rights for Mahajatra sold before shooting begins

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 9: The upcoming film ‘Mahajatra’ is still in the pre-production stage, but the distribution rights have already been sold in many foreign countries.

Chhatra Thapa of MSM Entertainment, known for acquiring global exhibition rights has recently sealed the deal for 'Mahajatra' outside India.

His faith in the ‘Jatra’ series and its established audience’s loyalty played a pivotal role in the commencement of Mahajatra.

Thapa said that the film is planned to release in Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, South Korea, the Middle East, Australia, and Europe on March 22 next year, which coincides with Nepal’s release date.

Rabindra Singh Baniyan, an actor and the film's executive producer, said that the ongoing success of the 'Jatra' series and audience expectations have paved the way for 'Mahajatra.'

Written and directed by Pradip Bhattarai, the film will have actors including Bipin Karki, Rabindra Singh Baniya, Rabindra Jha, HariBansha Acharya and others.

‘Mahajatra’ will be produced by Max Dipesh Khatri and Yagyashor Paudel. 

It is said that the shooting of the film will start soon after Dashain festival.
