Simkot Municipality offers ultrasound, cervical cancer diagnosis services

By Our Correspondent,Humla, Oct. 7: Humla district’s Simkot Rural Municipality provided cervical cancer diagnosis service in health centres throughout the local level. According to the rural municipality’s Health Section, ultrasound service is also provided to pregnant women to diagnose the condition of fetus.

“The service was provided after women visiting our health centres started complaining of different reproductive health issues,” said Manmaya Oli Shahi, a health worker under the health section of Simkot.

According to the health section, ultrasound service was provided to 21 pregnant women in Thehe Health Post, Kumlik Community Health Unit and Dojam Primary Health Service Centre. The condition of all the pregnant women was healthy, officials informed.

Likewise, cervical cancer diagnosis was performed on 80 women aged between 30-60 years old. “Diagnosis was performed on 41 women in Bargaun Health Post, eight in Thehe Health Post, 18 in Dojam Primary Health Service Centre and 13 in Kumlik Community Health Unit,” said Shahi.

“Two women were found having wounds in their cervixes during the diagnosis. 

They have been referred to the district hospital. Other women did not have any symptoms of cervical cancer,” said Shahi.
