19th Asian Games: India reaches finals by beating Bangladesh by nine wickets

Kathmandu, Oct 6: India has made it to the finals by beating Bangladesh by nine wickets in today's match of the men's cricket tournament under the 19th Asian Games in China.     

In the first semi-final match held today in Hangzhou in China, India thrashed Bangladesh and reached the finals. India achieved the 97 runs target posted by Bangladesh in 9.2 overs at the loss of one wicket.     

For India, Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 55 off 26 balls with six sixes and two boundaries. Similarly, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad contributed 40 runs.     

Prior to that, after losing the toss and batting first, Bangladesh made 96 runs in the allotted 20 overs at the loss of nine wickets. For the team, Jaker Ali hit highest 24 runs, and Pravez Hossain Emon 23. Similarly, Rakibul Hasan made 14. However, other players did score double digit runs.     

On the bowling side, India's Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore took highest three wickets, and Washington Sundar two. Likewise, Arshdeep Singh, Tilak Varma and Ravi Bishnoi bagged one each. Earlier, India reached the semifinals by defeating Nepal by 23 runs in the quarterfinals.     

Meanwhile, Afghanistan reached the finals by beating Pakistan by four wickets in today's match under the Games. With this win, Afghanistan will take on India in the finals. Pakistan set a 116-run target for Afghanistan. In chasing the target, the winning team achieved the target in 17.5 overs losing six wickets. (RSS)
