By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 30:‘Basenji’, a video game-style film, is scheduled to be released nationwide on October 13.

The film unit said that the film boasts about a unique experience by adopting a camera angle typically seen in video games.

Directed by American citizen Ian Scott Clement and produced by Suraj Mainali of Gourishankar Entertainment, ‘Basenji’ is a horror film.

The movie is presented through the eyes of its protagonist, Prabesh, occasionally providing viewers with the sensation of seeing events unfold right in front of them.

Prabesh, who hails from Western Nepal, has moved to Kathmandu after his father was dismissed for engaging in investigative journalism related to agriculture.

His journey takes an unsettling turn when he encounters Akash, who advises him to seek solace in a village near Kathmandu. What follows is a series of terrifying and spine-tingling events that form the core of the ‘Basenji’ storyline.

The film blends first-person and third-person perspectives, with the first-person viewpoint allowing viewers to experience the world through Prabesh's eyes and the third person camera to see him an independent viewer of the film, informed the film unit.

Ian Scott Clement, known for directing the Nepali film ‘Aapko Achar’ (Mango Pickle) is an aspiring filmmaker deeply influenced by the Nepali environment and way of life.

Following the success of  ‘Aapko Achar’ (Mango Pickle), which he co-produced with  Suraj Mainali and Gourav Basnet, Clement co-wrote and directed ‘Basenji’ under the banner of Gourishankar Entertainment.

The film features Asim Niraula in the role of Prabesh, with Supreme Rai portraying Akash. Notably, senior actors Mithila Sharma and Sarita Giri have also done the film.

Director Clement expresses his enthusiasm for this cinematic experiment, highlighting that it's a groundbreaking venture in Nepali cinema.
