By Jaya Krishna Yadav,Inaruwa, Sept. 30: An Urawa museum has been inaugurated in Inaruwa, the headquarters of Sunsari district.
In the museum, one can observe the rituals, culture, professions, festivals and art materials of the people of the Urawa community from birth to death in one place.
Kedar Bhandari, Mayor of Inaruwa Municipality, inaugurated the museum on Thursday. The three-story building was built at the initiative of the Nepal Urawa Ethnic Indigenous Academy.
In the museum, food dishes, musical instruments, weapons, kitchenware, clothes worn in different events, agricultural tools used in the fields, and materials that give glimpses of their livelihood and ancestral occupation are kept, said Bechan Urawa, president of the academy.
Inaugurating the museum, Mayor Bhandari said that he felt happy to inaugurate the museum which aims to protect, promote, and revive the heritage of the indigenous community.
With the initiative and support of the federal government and members of the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly, the building of the museum was constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.75 million.
Mayor Bhandari said that the municipality would support for the further development and expansion of the museum.
