By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 30: Nepal International Feature Film Selection Committee has announced an invitation for submissions for the 96th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar Awards).

Issuing a press statement on Tuesday, the committee has called upon Nepali filmmakers aspiring to compete in the Oscars to present their films by 5:00 p.m. on September 15, 2023.

The forthcoming 96th Academy Awards are slated to take place on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, USA.

Typically celebrated in February, the Oscars were delayed by two months in the previous year due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, the change is minor, with the awards moved to March instead of their usual February date.

Films eligible for submission are those that have been showcased from October 1 of the preceding year up until September 15 of the current year.

Additionally, contenders for the Oscar nomination from Nepal must provide evidence of at least a week of theatrical release, meeting specific technical standards, informed the selection committee
