Gobinda Hyumat’s solo musical evening concludes

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 30: A solo musical evening by Gobinda Hyumat, a senior musician and singer of Nepal Bhasa (Newari),  concluded at Kirtipur Cineplex in Panga on Monday. He performed 15 Newari language songs.

Musician Hyumat has been continuously contributing to the field of Newari songs and music since 1980. He has composed music for 400 songs so far.

Famous singers from Nepal and India including Mohammad Aziz, Anuradha Paudwal, Kumar Sanu and others have sung in the music of Hyumat. 

 He has given music for the songs of Newari films like Nhila: Nhila: Hoon, Charitra, Jeevan Yatra, Upahar, Banla: Mayju, and more.

During his latest show, Balkrishna Maharjan of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-4, president of Hans Smriti Samaj Dr. Rameshman Singh, Upesh Maharjan, Consulting Editor of Gorkhapatra Sansthan and Bijaylal Dangol honoured musician Hyumat with a purse of Rs. 100,000.

Musician Hyumat said that along with the music composition, well-wishers also inspired him to continue his singing career.

In the event, Ratna Shova Maharjan and Deepa Maharjan assisted composer Hyumat in a duet.

He said that he got inspiration from his mother Dwarika Devi to enter the field of music.
