By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 26: A music video titled ‘Maya’ from the final film of the late actor Saruk Tamrakar, ‘Hashtag Maya’, has been released amid a programme held in the capital on Thursday.

Rajiv Gurung, the director of the film, said that although Saruk wanted to complete the film, his untimely demise made it impossible. As a tribute to Saruk, the team decided to release a music video incorporating the scenes of Saruk from the film.

“We could not complete the film. But we have prepared a music video that incorporates Saruk’s work, using scenes from the song he loved. This is our tribute to Saruk. Even though he has gone, his work will remain with us,” said director Gurung.

The music video featured performances by Nikita Acharya, Mahesh Magar, and Sagar Pariyar, alongside Saruk. The video included scenes shot in Bardiya.

Saruk’s mother, Rukmani, expressed her gratitude for showcasing her son’s dedicated work through the music video. She said that Saruk had devoted three years to the film project and, even though she couldn't watch Saruk’s film on the big screen, she found solace in watching her son in the music video.

Rukmani said that Saruk’s father, Sanu Tamrakar, was hospitalised due to the grief of losing their son and was unable to attend the event. She also urged the ongoing police investigation to accelerate and reveal the truth, as various speculations regarding Saruk’s untimely death have surfaced on social media and elsewhere.

Mohan Niroula, the president of the Film Artists Association of Nepal, began his speech by saying, ‘Saruk should get justice.’ He continued, “I have been associated with this family for four decades. The pain they are experiencing after losing Saruk is beyond words. We urge the police, who are investigating the matter of Saruk’s death, to conclude their inquiry promptly and reveal the truth.”

Actress and former Miss Nepal, Shristi Shrestha, who shared a close bond with Saruk, became emotional while reminiscing about their shared memories. She expressed disbelief over losing someone who was always there to help others in their group during times of trouble.

Saruk had played in the films like ‘Rani’, ‘Meri Mamu’, and ‘Intu Mintu Londonma’.

Actor Saruk committed suicide on July 6 at his residence in Ratopul, Kathmandu.
