Myagdi, Aug 17: Hydropower projects have been affected due to the frequent obstruction of the Beni-Darbang road following a landslide. As a result of road obstruction, the supply of construction materials and fuel has been affected thus leading to the disturbance of the projects, it has been said.
Currently, four hydropower projects and a substation are under construction in Dhawalagiri and Malika Rural Municipalities. Construction of the 25 megawatts Darbang-Myagdikhola hydropower project has been halted due to the obstruction of the road, said the project manager Gopal Regmi. “Transport has been disrupted at the Phaparkhet-Bangepahiro section affecting the supply of explosive and construction materials. As a result, the supply of iron rods used to construct a tunnel has been halted,” he said.
According to the Department of Electricity Development, 13 hydropower projects with a total of 238.23 megawatts are under construction, which are based in the Myagdi river and rivulets.
