Kathmandu, Aug 16: The Office of the Auditor General has briefed Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' about its preparation for audit of the fiscal year 2080/81 BS.
During a meeting held at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar, this afternoon, acting Auditor General Maheshwor Kafle briefed PM Prachanda about the state of affairs of the office and further plan and schedule.
The office shared that it would conduct the audit of all government offices across the country based on a three-phase schedule. Under-secretary level auditors and officer-level accountant would be assigned for the audit, according to the office.
Saying the government was actively involved to maintain good governance, financial discipline and transparency, Prime Minister Prachanda mentioned that all the state bodies should carryout activities earning the trust of the people.
He urged to observe this year an important year in terms of good governance and transparency, saying he was sensitive towards the role to be played by the government for the same.
PM Prachanda viewed, "We are in a campaign of social justice, good governance and prosperity. Good governance, financial discipline and transparency are important condition for the same. But, the trust of people's towards state bodies in decreasing and such situation should be improved. We have to think seriously on how to maintain trust, transparency and good governance."
Stating expected results could not be achieved in good governance, transparency and accountability until state bodies become responsible, he laid emphasis on the need of making effective plan of audit this year than previous year. (RSS)
