Ashwin, Kabita crowned ‘Khotang Pratibha-2080’

By Our Correspondent,Khotang, Aug. 16: Ashwin Rai and Kabita Shrestha won the titles of ‘Khotang Pratibha-2080’ in the singing and dancing competitions respectively in a programme held in  Rastriya Naach Ghar, Kathmandu, on Monday. 

This competition, an initiative by the Khotang Kalakar Samaj, scouted talents from across all 10 local levels of the district. The event, co-hosted by Khotang Kalakar Samaj and Khotang Sewa Samaj (UK), was inaugurated by Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati.

Ashwin won the competition under the singing category and  Pradeep Rai and Laxman Pariyar secured second and third places respectively. 

Likewise, under the dancing category, Kabita secured the first place followed by Subhas Vishwakarma and Manita Rai in the second and third positions. 

Rupkumar Rai, the chairman of Khotang Kalakar Samaj and a renowned musician, announced that the top three winners from both categories would be awarded cash prizes of Rs. 202,000, Rs. 101,000 and Rs. 51,000 respectively. 

 In addition to the financial rewards, they also received trophies, medals, and certificates. 

Moreover, these six outstanding performers will get opportunities to record songs, create music videos, and even participate in events in the UK, said the organisers. 

 Fourteen other participants from the municipalities were also recognised with certificates and compensated for their transportation costs.

 Furthermore, 20 selected talents were hosted in Kathmandu for a month, receiving complimentary meals and specialised training in singing and dancing, informed the organisers.
