Purushottam Dahal awarded Sushil Koirala Journalism Honour

By Siraj Khan,Nepalgunj, Aug. 14: Veteran journalist Purusottam Dahal is awarded with ‘Sushil Koirala National Journalism Honour-2023’.

Dahal was awarded at a special programme organised by Press Union Banke on the occasion of the 12th district convention. He is the second journalist to receive this honour. Tara Nath Dahal received the same honour in 2076 B.S.

Kishor Singh Rathore, Deputy General Secretary of Nepali Congress, felicitated Dahal wrapping him with a shawl and certificate of appreciation and cash prize of Rs. 25,555.

According to Arjun Oli, president of Press Union Banke, Sushil Koirala National Journalism Honour was established in 2076 B.S. after the then Constituent Assembly Member Abdul Hamid Siddiqui Bhola established a trust of Rs. 200,000.

According to Press Union Banke, on the same occasion Nepal Television Kohalpur Regional Chief, Bijay Verma, was conferred on Freedom Fighter Panna Lal Gupta National Journalism Honour-2080. Lok Maya Subedi ‘Sumitra’ was awarded with Jagannath Gaudel Memorial Journalism Award. Gaje Thapa was awarded with Press Union Creativity Journalism Award and Krishna Raj Adhikari was felicitated with Rising Journalist Award.

On the same occasion, Hemanta Karmacharya, Prem KC, Netra KC, Shree Ram Sigdel were felicitated as senior journalists. Journalists Madhav Shah, Megraj Oli, Narendra Oli, Narendra Thapa and Jay Narayan Shah were felicitated with former president honour. 

Likewise, Former Constituent Assembly Member Hamid Siddiqui ‘Bhola’, former Mayor of Nepaljung, Vijay Kumar Gupta, and Laxmi Gaudel were also felicitated for their role in constitution of the honours and awards.
