By Bishnu Prasad Pokhrel,Damak, Aug.4: Kamal Rural Municipality of Jhapa district has started spraying pesticides to kill mosquitoes and their larvae.

The fire engine is being used to spray the pesticide as the cases of dengue are rising across the local level.

Municipality Chairman Hukum Singh Rai was also infected with dengue. He has recovered and started intensifying preventive measures against the disease," said Indra Aryal, chief of the rural municipality's health section.

Aryal informed that the fire engine was reaching every corner of the local level to spray the pesticide and kill the larvae of dengue-transmitting mosquitoes.

Locals are being made aware to keep their surroundings clean and avoid the accumulation of stagnant water.

Kamal Rural Municipality has also recommended its people to stay vigilant during the morning and evening as dengue causing mosquitoes are most active from dawn to dusk.

The fire engine is deployed in the morning and evening to spray the pesticide.

"This step will not only help reduce the risk of dengue but malaria as well," said Aryal.
