By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 31: Nepathya, a folk rock band, is set to hold a series of concerts in Japan.
According to the event organiser, Nepalaya, a 14-member group will depart for Japan in the first week of August, with the concert tour commencing in Tokyo.
The band’s first performance will take place at the Toyosu PIT in Tokyo on August 8.
They will then showcase their performances of Nepali folk songs at Fukuoka Civic Hall on August 12.
Their concluding preferences will be held at Osaka’s Namba Hatch on August 17.
Having its show in Japan back in 1998, Nepathya has a special attachment with Japan.
The band last performed in 2018 at the famous Tokyo Dome in Japan.
Following the catastrophic earthquake in 2015, when Amrit Gurung, the lead vocalist of the band, reached Japan, he was interviewed by the premier television network, NHK. They dedicated a 15-minute video report to this interview and used it as a platform to introduce Nepal and Nepathya to their viewers.
Nepathya capitalised this opportunity to raise awareness and funds for earthquake relief efforts, with their earnings donated to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
Joining Amrit on stage in Japan will be Dhruv Lama on drums, Suraj Thapa on keyboards, Subin Shakya on bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on guitar, and Shanti Rayamajhi on Madal.
