By Our Correspondent,Sarlahi, July, 29:The Muslim community is celebrating the Muharram festival with gaiety and fervour on Saturday.
Muharram is a celebration of the first month of the Islamic calendar. The muharram month is recognised as the second divine month after Ramadan. District Security Committee Sarlahi has appealed to Muslims to celebrate Muharram festival to maintain social harmony.
The committee issued a public appeal on Thursday and requested to maintain social harmony while celebrating Tajima and Daha festivals which fall on Saturday (July 29).
In the notice issued by District Security Committee Chairman and Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav, read, “Everyone is requested to celebrate the festival by respecting human rights, maintaining peace and order, protecting public property and maintaining social harmony.”
It has also been requested celebrate the festival in a harmonious environment by calling on people not to engage in undesired activities such as shouting in public places, playing loud DJ instruments and activities that affect the private life of any person.
“Action will be taken according to the prevailing law if found any unwanted activities,” read the notice.
According to the locals, preparations are completed to celebrate Muharram festival in places like Malangwa, Lakshmipur, Bayalwas, Sundarpur, Bhadsar, Khutouna and Chakraghatta, the main settlements of Muslims in Sarlahi.
During the celebration of the festival, the security agencies increase their vigilance as disputes can surface with other communities regarding issues such as playing loud instruments and using the road.
Sarlahi Police said that the security system will be tightened by taking high precautions in the places where disputes occurred in the previous years.
