By Amar Raj Naharki,Tanahun, July 29: Born on December 20, 1919, centenarian Man Kumari Lamichhane is now 104 years old. While she has been a witness to several changes in the country over the years, Lamichhane was happier when she was able to renew her social security allowance in her village.

A resident of Ward No. 1 of Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality in Tanahun district, Lamichhane informed that the social security allowance had been of great support for her over the years.

The ward office has established small camps to renew the documents and register eligible citizens under the social security allowances in different parts of the ward.

"My purse is at least never empty. Moreover, I do not need to ask for money from others when I need to visit some functions, such as marriage, bratabandha or puja. It is not appropriate to perform charity or donation by asking money from others," said Lamichhane when she visited the camp to renew her allowance documents.

According to the centenarian, she receives Rs. 4,000 per month as the social security allowance.

"It is a great relief that I did not have to travel to the rural municipality or the ward office this time for the renewal. I am thankful," said Lamichhane.

Lamichhane described the travels to the ward office and rural municipality office earlier as hectic.

"We are happy that we could bring an extra smile to the face of senior citizen Lamichhane. It is essential for the local government to make services more accessible to the public," said Kumar Magar, a ward member of Ward No. 1.
