blog

By Our Correspondent,Dharan, July 18: A large number of devotees thronged eastern Nepal's famous Pindeshwor Temple on July 17, Monday of the Nepali month of Shrawan for the special Bolbam Puja.

Located in Vijaypur, Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City–14, the historically and religiously significant temple sees thousands of pilgrims every year during Shrawan, who bathe in the Saptakoshi River and offer its water, along with the leaves of the wood apple plant, to Lord Shiva residing here.

As per ancient scriptures, Bolbam is a sacred journey wherein people travel great distances on foot and offer holy water and wood apple leaves to please Shiva, also known as Mahadev, and gain blessings.

Even great sages and other deities of the Hindu pantheon are mentioned to have undertaken this journey to worship Mahadev.

People from all over the country come to Pindeshwor every year in the month of Shrawan to pray and partake in the Bolbam festivities.

Additionally, countless also come during the Shivaratri and Haritalika Teej festivals.

Located at an altitude of 1,560 feet above sea level, Pindeshwor Dham has temples dedicated to Shiva, Ved Vyas, Kal Bhairav, Saraswoti and all 330 million gods of Hinduism.

That is why people from neighbouring India also visit here, according to the Pindeshwor Babadham Committee.
