Trees planted along roadside in Salyantar

By Our Correspondent,Dhading, July 11: Trees have been planted on either side of the road in Salyantar, Dhading. Plantations have been done  from Buttar to Siktar via Kholsi and Bagaicha of Ward No. 1 and 2 of Tripurasundari Rural Municipality. 

The tree plantation was carried out  under the campaign 'People's Desire - Green City' with the financial support of the Forest and Land Conservation Department, Kathmandu, technical support from the Division Forest Office Dhading and in coordination with Tripurasundari Rural Municipality. 

Chairman of the rural municipality Raju Upreti said that they started planting trees to give a beautiful look to the city. 

The rural municipality have also formed a consumer committee to look after the trees. 

Four to seven feet tall trees were planted on either side of the 9 km road section.  Chairman Upreti said that the tree plantation was done at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.5 million of the Forest and Land Conservation Department. 

Vice-chair Dev Raj Dharel said they had tested the soil and planted trees as suggested by the technical experts. 

The rural municipality had been conducting the tree plantation programme with the aim of planting one sapling for one voter in the rural municipality since last year. He said that the rural municipality had planted 200 trees in Hattisunde of Ward No. 1 and 400 trees in Arughat of Ward No. 2 last year. The trees are now growing, he added.

He said that a few of the trees were destroyed by natural calamities and construction works and the destruction must be compensated by planting new trees. 

He also said that other local levels also need to prioritise tree plantation to keep their area beautiful.
