BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Gaighat, July 11: Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki has said that the current leadership of the Supreme Court has been continuously working for prompt justice delivery.

He said that they were in a campaign to finalise all cases that had been in the court for more than two years and solve other cases as soon as possible by classifying them into simple, general and complex cases according to their nature in order to make the public feel the justice.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed building of the District Court Udayapur on Monday, Chief Justice Karki said that the court was undergoing planned reforms to address all kinds of public complaints.

“We have received complaints that justice has become expensive,” he said, “Court has become expensive due to delay in the work instead of the court charges. We have become sensible regarding it.”

He said that some of the rates are the same as they were 20 years ago.

“Court services have become expensive due to delay in justice delivery, fees of the law practitioners and expenditure of service users during the case. Such problems would be addressed soon by the court.”

He said, “I instruct you all from here to work in such a way that people would feel the justice.”

Stating that there was a need of purification and strengthening within the judiciary, he said that for this they had started implementing the report prepared by him. Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut said that the public would feel justice if the judiciary was made independent and dignified.

Chief Register of the Supreme Court Lal Bahadur Kunwar, District Coordination Committee chief Gaur Bahadur BK, Triyuga Municipality Mayor Basanta Kumar Basnet and others had suggested that a judicial plan should be made to increase people’s access to justice.
