Bhimeshwor Municipality procures waste management equipment

blog

By Sujan Kafle,Charikot, July 10: The market area of Dolakha district has been plagued by garbage problems. The heaps of garbage piled everywhere give an ugly look to the market areas.

Although the government every year spends millions of rupees for the transportation of waste from markets, the problem of garbage is usual in the urban areas of Dolakha.

To address this long-standing waste management issue, Bhimeshwar Municipality has acquired four pieces of waste management equipment, specifically designed to handle plastic, lead and bones.

Mayor Ishwar Narayan Manandhar stated that the plastic and bone products would undergo processing for potential reuse while the lead would be exported to India after proper treatment.

Mayor Manandhar acknowledged the waste management challenge that has persisted right from the time he assumed the office of the mayor and said that efforts to resolve the waste problem have reached the final stages.

“Intensified waste management measures will contribute to the success of the "Neat Bhimeshwar, Clean Bhimeshwar" campaign,” Mayor Manandhar said.

According to the municipality, the equipment is capable of cleaning plastic, grinding glass bottles, crushing bones and plastic bottles. A total of Rs. 3.2 million has been invested in procuring the equipment.

Mayor Manandhar expressed confidence that the procurement of the new waste management devices would help manage all types of waste effectively in the municipality. The equipment has been housed in the sanitation centre constructed in ward No. 6 of the municipality.

Previously, the residents were compelled to dispose of the non-biodegradable waste in the forest.

Now, the municipality has been working to bring all the devices into operation within a week, ensuring proper waste management. A schedule has been made public to collect the degradable and non-degradable waste on separate days.
