Meet of chief attorneys' ends by issuing 9-point declaration

BY DHARBENDRA JHA,Dhanusha, July 10: The 4th national conference of chief attorneys held in Janakpurdham, the capital of Madhes Province, concluded on Sunday by issuing a nine-point declaration. 

The conference was attended by chief attorneys of six provinces including Madhes Province. 

They had discussed the work to be done by the chief attorneys, the challenges faced while working and the work to be done in the coming days. 

According to the declaration, the rights of the chief attorneys will be implemented in accordance with the spirit of federalism as per the provisions of the Constitution, Acts and Laws, they would demand concerned stakeholders to immediately make necessary laws including regulations for the implementation of the legal provisions of the State Probation and Parole Board and immediately define the issues related to the list of common rights mentioned in Schedule 7 and 9 and make it clear to all three level of governments. 

Similarly, the declaration mentions the need to strengthen the rule of law by coordinating with the office of the district government advocates and the office of the high government advocates for the implementation of court decisions, to further strengthen law and order in the province and to make the role of the province more effective, to protect the human rights of children in juvenile correctional homes. 

The conference demanded an amendment to the constitution and enact necessary laws so that the office of the Chief Advocates can conduct investigations and prosecutions related to punishment, as mentioned in the province law. 

Likewise, it strongly demanded that all the stakeholders should seek an amendment to the constitution and enact a law so that the management of the employees would be done by the Provincial Public Service Commission.
