BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Dharan, July 8: The Biratnagar High Court has refused to issue an interim order in a writ filed against Harka Raj Rai, Mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City. The joint bench of Biratnagar High Court Judge Krishna Kamal Adhikari and Murari Babu Shrestha refused to grant an interim order on Wednesday.

The members of Dharan Water Supply Management Board had filed a writ on June 9 against Mayor Rai and Secretary Raju Pokhrel demanding the smooth operation of the board.

The members claimed that the board was not functioning systematically. Board members Bijay Shrestha, Nepali Congress Dharan's president Shyam Pokhrel and others had filed the writ stating that the policy decisions should not be made without holding a meeting of the executive committee and that no one should be allowed to act as a president until a president is chosen legally.

The court order states it did not deem it necessary to issue an interim order in the case since in the absence of an interim order there would be no irreparable harm to the board.

With the court order, now Mayor Rai can also work as the chairman of Dharan Water Supply Management Board.
