‘Make judicial committees effective’

Janakpurdham, Jan 4: Chairman of the Madhesi Commission, Bijay Kumar Datta, has said the judicial committees at local level need activism and effectiveness to ensure constitutionally guaranteed rights to citizens.     

During a training of trainers programme organized by the Madhesi Commission here today, Chairman Datta said the judicial committees should be capable to resolve the disputes surfaced at local levels. The deputy chiefs at local level who presides the committees should pay heed to this regard, he suggested.     

Commission Member Jibachh Saha shared the role and responsibility of the Commission. He complained that the Commission was not able to carry out the activities as per its plan due to budget shortage.     

On the occasion, district judge in Dhanusha, Churaman Khadka, said if the local judicial committees settled disputes, the judiciary would not be burdened with minor cases.     

Chief of district coordination committee, Dhanusha, Raj Nandan Mandal, also viewed the need of settling local disputes within community.     

Chief of district police office, Bhubaneshwor Tiwari, said even the police offices were facing burden due to under-performance of local levels’ judicial committees.     

A total of 50 persons including deputy chiefs, police persons and civil servants were provided training of trainers.(RSS)
