Govt at work to control corruption, maintain good governance: DPM Shrestha

By Ashok Ghimire, Chengdu (China), July 1 :  Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who is on a visit to the People’s Republic of China, said the government had been at work to effectively control corruption and maintain good governance.

The minister was addressing an event organised at the Consulate General of Nepal in Chengdu, China on Saturday.     

“Bad governance is a big problem of the country. The government has accorded high priorities to effectively control corruption and establish good governance. High ranking government officials, including former ministers, members of the Election Commission and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority were held in corruption case,” he said, pledging to continue action against irregularities at any cost.     

In another context, the minister said an environment would be enabled for Nepali people abroad to return home. He also sought foreign assistance to support the country's bid for prosperity.     

On the occasion, Consul General Dinesh Kumar Ghimire said the Consulate General had been working for protecting the interests and welfare of Nepal and Nepali people by promoting investment, tourism, trade and export.     

On the occasion, DPM Shrestha held an interaction with the Nepali community in Chengdu. The Consulate General had hosted a reception in honour of the deputy prime minister. (RSS)
