By Govinda Sharma,Banke, June 16: A tripartite agreement has been signed to establish a blood bank at the Sushil Koirala Prakhar Cancer Hospital established in Khajura, Banke.
The agreement was signed between the administration of the Sushil Koirala Prakhar Cancer Hospital (SKPCH), which is the only cancer hospital in western Nepal, Nepal Red Cross Society-Banke and Khajura Rural Municipality.
"As per the agreement, Khajura Rural Municipality will manage a space and employees for the blood bank while the Red Cross Society will provide necessary technical support," said Min Bahadur Malla, a Nepal Red Cross Society member, Banke.
According to the officials, all three parties have started working in their respective fields to fulfil their responsibilities.
"We have started searching for healthy blood donors by prioritising schools and campuses.
A tri-monthly policy will be formed to encourage locals towards blood donation," said Dambar Bahadur BK, Chairperson of Khajura Rural Municipality.
Once the blood bank comes into operation, the patients and their caretakers can have a sigh of relief, said the stakeholders.
"The blood bank was extremely necessary. Many patients from outside the district arrive here.
However, their caretakers need to reach Nepalgunj or Kohalpur to search for blood," said Tekendra Malla, Chairperson of the SKPCH Development Committee.
