Book on Khajura’s history published

By Siraj Khan,Nepalgunj, June 11: Khajura Academy, an academy established by Khajura Rural Municipality of Banke district, has published a book titled “Khajurako Brihat Itihas”, which translates to “The Great History of Khajura”.

Khajura Academy’s Chancellor Dambar Bahadur BK, who is also the chairperson of Khajura Rural Municipality, Vice Chancellor Manju Malla, who is also the deputy chairperson of the rural municipality, and senior writer Narendra Jung Peter jointly released the book at a programme organised in the local level on Friday.

Writer Rishi Ram Sapkota commented on the book as a writer and Sundar Gurung commented as a reader.

“The book resembles the history of Khajura including its language, literature, culture and art. This is now an important treasure of ours and will be preserved to keep our history alive for future generations,” said BK.

Multiple locals, local-level representatives and writers, including Bodhraj Pyakurel and Charitra Shahi, also gave their speeches on the history of Khajura through different lenses.

The book has 382 pages and is edited by Indra Bahadur Bhandari with Mani Dev Aryal as the assistant editor.

“The book contains an introduction to Khajura followed by its political, literary, educational, cultural, religious and social history. The history is based on investigative writings,” said Aryal, who is also a member of the Academy.
