Dahal, Maharjan win badminton title

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 9Prince Dahal and Rashila Maharjan won the title of the 16th Krishna Mohan Memorial Nationwide Open Badminton Championship in Kathmandu on Thursday. 

Nepal’s number one Dahal of APF Club rallied past Rukesh Maharjan of Tribhuvan Army Club in the final of the men’s single held at the court of APF Club at Halchowk. Army Club’s Maharjan struggled past APF’s Jesica Gurung 21-19, 15-21, 21-17 to win the women’s single title. Dahal teamed up with Bijit Thapa Magar to claim the Men’s doubles final beating the pair of Police Club’s Jivan Acharya and Bishnu Katuwal 21-18, 21-15 in a straight set. 

Likewise, Dahal also paired with his teammate Gurung to win the mixed doubles final. They defeated another pair of their club Bijit Thapa and Shova Gauchan 23-21, 22-20. The women’s doubles title went to the team of Maharjan and Anu Maya Rai. They outplayed APF’s pair Gurung and Sunaina Mukhiya 21-16, 21-12 in the final. APF Club organizes the badminton tournament every year in the memory of its Late IG Krsihna Mohan Shrestha.
