Agreement inked for music royalties

BY A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 6: An agreement was inked among the Performers Society of Nepal, Music Royalty Collection Society, Music and Film Producers Society Nepal, and Chirayu Hospital regarding the collection of music royalties on Monday.

The agreement was signed by Nirnaya Shrestha, the Acting President of the Performers Society of Nepal, Chandra Sharma, the Acting President of Music Royalty Collection Society, Surya Bahadur Magar, the President of Music and Film Producers Society Nepal, and Sanjib Rajbhandary, the Hospital Director.

As per the agreement, the hospital will be allowed to publicly use songs and music, and in return, it will pay royalties to the respective music organisations. Additionally, the hospital has agreed to provide medical treatment to the members of all three Collective Management Organisations (CMOs).

Surya Bahadur Magar, the President of Music and Film Producers Association of Nepal, stated that the agreement was significant, as it ensures the collection of music royalties for songs used in public, including those broadcast on television. He further mentioned that the Society would continue to negotiate agreements in various other areas of public song usage.

Sanjib Rajbhandary, Hospital Director, expressed his satisfaction over the agreement, highlighting the hospital's willingness to contribute to the growth of Nepali song and music by cooperating in the collection of royalties.
