Malaysia leveled T20I Women series 2-2

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 4: Host Malaysia made a comeback at the T20I Women’s Bilateral Series after they leveled the series 2-2 by beating Nepal by four wickets in Malaysia on Saturday.

Malaysia made a winning start as they beat visiting team of Nepal by five wickets while Nepal tied the series in the second match stunning Malaysia by seven wickets. Nepal had taken a 2-1 lead in the series thrashing host Malaysia by 27 runs in the third match of the series.

The final match between Malaysia and Nepal will be held on Sunday.

Malaysia have kept their hope alive to win the title after beating Nepal by four wickets in the last ball thriller chasing the target of 97 runs with the loss of six wickets in the allocated 20 overs match.

Opener Winifred Duraisingam scored the highest 38 runs for the home team. She scored 38 runs off 52 balls that included the two boundaries while Mahirah Izzati Ismail hits 16 runs off 26 balls that included the two boundaries and skipper Mas Elysa contributed 13 runs off 18 balls that included single boundary. But other batters of the home team failed to collect double digits.

Kabita Kunwar, Captain Rubina Chhetry, Sita Rana Magar, and Kabita Joshi grabbed one wicket each.

Earlier, batting first, Nepal displayed a poor performance as they scored just 96 runs with the loss of seven wickets in the allocated 20 overs.

Nepal made a poor start as openers duo Kajal Shrestha and Sita Rana Magar returned to the pavilion in the single digit.

Indu Barma scored the highest 32 runs for Nepal. She scored 32 runs off 31 balls that included three boundaries while Bindu Rawal hit an unbeaten 24 runs off 26 balls that included a single boundary.

Similarly, Kabita Kunwar scored unbeaten 12 runs off 13 balls for Nepal.

All-rounder Winifred Duraisingam alone claimed three wickets while Mahirah Izzati and Aisya Eleesa contributed one wicket apiece for Malaysia. All-rounder Winifred was declared the player of the match for her all-rounder performance against Nepal.
