Adhikari, Manandhar receive Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 23: Nepali film director and actor Akash Adhikari and actress Karisma Manandhar have been honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award 2023 in India. 

The award ceremony took place in Mumbai on Sunday evening. Both Adhikari and Manandhar received the award for their significant contributions to the Nepali film industry over the years.

Expressing his gratitude to the honour, director Adhikari said, "Heaven,  I have only heard of it, but I have not seen it. Nepal, my country, is what is like heaven. 

After that, I consider Maharashtra Mumbai as the next heaven, where I got the opportunity to learn and work."

Adhikari and Manandhar were honoured as the best director and best actress respectively from Nepal in the 69th edition of the 'Dadasaheb Phalke Award,' organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India. 

Actress Manandhar expressed her gratitude on Facebook, stating, "Art is a universal language that transcends boundaries and enriches the lives of people. 

Each nation contributes uniquely to the culture of mankind through their artistic endeavors. Thank you, Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation, for this honourable recognition of our Nepali film industry."

National Film Awards ceremony, named after Dadasaheb Phalke, has been held annually to recognise exceptional contributions to the film industry.
