Storm destroys mangoes in Dhanusha

By Our Correspondent,Dhalkebar, May 16: The storm that occurred on Sunday evening has damaged mangoes significantly in Dhanusha.

Chief of Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Dhanusha Shankar Prasad Sah, said that the gust that occurred last night had damaged the mango garden in all places of the district.

He informed that the preliminary estimate is that 25 per cent of the mangoes have been destroyed, although it is not possible to say with certainty as the damage details are being collected.

He said that in some places only the fruits were damaged by the wind and in some places even the branches were broken. Mango farmers are worried after the wind damaged the mangoes during ripening.

They became worried after the mangoes that had grown recently were destroyed due to the wind that lasted for half an hour.

Ram Lakhan Mahato, a farmer of Mithila Municipality-3, Bishrampur, said that the annual income of a person was lost due to damage to mangoes by gust.

He informed that mangoes and maize crops have also been damaged by wind.

Similarly, spokesperson of District Police Office, Dhanusha and Police Inspector Bed Prasad Gautam said that the wind caused minor damage to houses covered with hay and zinc, but there were no human casualties.
