We should work together to revive ailing economy: Dr. Mahat

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 8: Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat stressed the need for working together with the private sector for the economic development of the country.

He made this remark during a meeting with a delegation of the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association at the Ministry of Finance on Sunday.

Minister Dr. Mahat said that all parties should move forward together to revive the ailing economy.

Stating that the private sector is the engine of economic growth, he said that the government and the private sector should move ahead hand in hand for economic development.

He also asked the gold traders to bring good plans and suggestions for economic development and change.

Mentioning that he was watching the country's economy closely, he said that it would not be difficult to develop the country if every sector of the economy moved forward together.

According to a press statement issued by the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, Minister Dr. Mahat also expressed his commitment to taking the necessary initiatives to solve the problems seen in the gold and silver businesses.

During the meeting, FENEGOSIDA President Manik Ratna Shakya urged Minister Mahat to take the initiative to solve the problems seen in the gold and silver businesses.

Shakya also drew the attention of Finance Minister Mahat about the policy related to gold and silver businesses and gold supply.
