Himalayan Sherpa stun Jawalakhel

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 27: Jawalakhel Youth Club missed the opportunity to go four points clear at the top of the table of the Martyr’s Memorial A Division league after losing to Himalayan Sherpa by 1-2 at Dasharath Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Pistone Mutamba scored twice in the third win of Himalayan Sherpa. The only goal for leader Jawalakhel came from Nkoto Synous Masoabi.

Mutamba put the Himalayan Sherpa ahead in the 10th minute and doubled the lead in the 19th minute.

Masoabi cut the deficit for Jawalakhel from his close ranger in the 72nd minute. This is his tenth goal of this season’s league.

Despite the win, the mountaineers could not avoid the drop zone. Himalayan Sherpa collected 13 points to stay in 13th position. At the end of the 12th round of the first division league, Jawalakhel holds on to the top of the table with 23 points.

Three Star Club cut the Jawalakhel’s lead to one point after playing a goalless draw with title holder Machhindra FC in the first match at Dasharath Stadium. The draw helped Three Star collect 22 points while Machhindra bagged 17 points from 12 matches. 

Elsewhere, Satdobato Youth Club thrashed Sankata Club 4-0 to move up to the third position. With the sixth win, Satdobato amassed 21 points from 12 matches. After conceding the fifth loss, Sankata stays in ninth position with 15 points. 

Deepak Singh Thakuri and William Opku Asideu scored a brace in Satdobato’s victory. Asideu netted his first goal in the 10th minute and doubled the advantage of Satdobato in the 18th minute. Thakuri scored his two goals in the second half. He found his first in the 68th minute and second in the 82nd minute. With a brace against Sankata, Thakuri took his goal tally to 10 goals and joined Masoabi at the top of the scorer's chart.
