By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 24: Striker Ajayi Martins scored a brace as Three Star Club defeated Sankata Club 3-0 and moved to second place at the Martyr’s Memorial A Division League on Sunday.

The win at Dasharath Stadium helped Three Star cut the Jawalakhel Youth Club’s lead to two points. Three Star has 21 points from six wins, three draws and two defeats. Santosh Shaukhala also joined the scorer’s chart against Sankata on Sunday evening.

Martins lobbed over the ball from inside the box straight into the top corner of the Sankata’s post to break the deadlock in the 42nd minute. Four minutes later, he was again on target as his header  to Laken Limbu's pass kissed the back of the net.

Martin got the chance to complete a hat trick but he could not direct his spot kick into the post in the 51st minute.

Three Star was awarded the penalty following a hand ball from Sankata's Kuldeep Karki inside box. Sahukhala killed the match in the stoppage time (90+8) scoring one touch goal off Mahendra Karki's cross ball.

Satdobato held

Deepak Raj Singh Thakuri scored the fastest goal of this season’s top-tier league as Satdobato Youth Club and Himalayan Sherpa Club settled to a 2-2 draw at Chyasal Stadium, Lalitpur.

After sharing a point, Satdobato failed to move into the second after squandering a 2-1 lead. Satdobato remained in fourth place with 18 points from 11 matches. The draw could not move Himalayan Sherpa above the relegation zone. Himalayan Sherpa has 10 points.

Thakuri netted a brace for Satdobato while Nishan Limbu and Sushil Rai scored to save the Mountaineers from defeat. Thakuri found the goal in the first minute giving Himalayan Sherpa no chance to settle in the ground.  Unmarked Thakuri headed a stunning goal in the cross-off Pasang Lama.

Substitute Nishan Limbu levelled the score 1-1 for Sherpa in the 72nd minute. Limbu netted a cross off Abayomi Oluwaseun in one touch.

Thakuri restored Satdobato's lead in the 80th minute with his second. He scored a quick goal from inside the box with an assist from Sardorbek Matmuratov.

Thakuri so far has scored eight goals in the ongoing league. He is in fourth place in the scorer’s chart.

Messouke Olomou of Khumaltar and Nkoto Synous of Jawalakhel Youth Club lead the chart with nine goals each. Afeez Olawale of Machhindra FC has eight goals in his kitty.

Sushil Rai rescued Himalayan Sherpa from the defeat after cancelling out the lead of Satdobato in the 83rd minute. Rai beat Satdobato’s defender and scored the equaliser with his captain Biswash Shrestha's pass.
