Workshop on art, journalism ends

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 22: A one-day orientation training on art journalist/art writing concluded on Friday. It was jointly organised by Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture and Society of Fine Arts Journalists (Sofaj) Nepal. 

Journalists from various media houses and artistes participated in the training. Speaking at the programme, Keshav Raj Khanal, president of Sofaj, said that they had established Society of Fine Arts Journalists in 2015 with the aim of bringing journalists who write on fine arts together and providing them with training  opportunities. 

Member Secretary of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Devendra Kumar Kafle ‘Thumkeli’, said that the programme was organised with the intention of finding out the challenges and problems of art journalism and finding their solutions. 

Lalkaji Lama, vice chancellor of the Academy, said that such programmes would help art journalists to understand Nepali fine arts better and connect journalists and artists to the overall development of the art sector.

Including Khanal, Madhu Shahi, vice president of Sofaj Nepal, Sangeeta Shrestha,  Secretary of Sofaj Nepal, and Bishnu Gyawali, Associate Professor of Tribhuvan University, provided training on art journalism and fine art. 

Member Secretary Thumkeli informed that the Academy would hold a national fine arts conference and a national art exhibition soon.
