Japan provides medical equipment to Valley Health Centre

blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 12: The Government of Japan has provided medical equipment to the Valley Health Centre in Suryabinayak Municipality, Bhaktapur. Kikuta Yutaka, ambassador of Japan to Nepal, handed over the equipment on Tuesday.

Under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), the Japanese government provided medical equipment to carry out testing for breast cancer, thyroid and diabetes to the health centre run by the Labourer Women and Child Welfare Council (LWCWC), as per a press statement issued by the Embassy of Japan in Nepal.

Since its establishment in 1996, LWCWC has focused on maternal and child health care by providing free diagnosis, free birth assistance, and basic medicines in rural areas. In addition, the centre's doctors and nurses regularly visit surrounding communities to provide counselling and raise awareness of basic health issues.

However, the centre previously lacked needed medical equipment and was unable to test for breast cancer, thyroid dysfunction, and diabetes. Now, with this project, it can perform regular and appropriately timed examinations for these diseases, hoped the embassy.
