APF Club complete hat trick of titles at Lalitpur Mayor’s Cup

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 31: The APF Club completed a hat-trick at the Lalitpur Mayor’s Cup Women’s T20 Championship, winning the title for the third consecutive time following its 54-run victory over Koshi Province at the T.U International Cricket Stadium, Kirtipur on Thursday. 

APF had defeated Sudur Paschim Province in the previous two editions of the championship. 

APF remained unbeaten in the league round with a cent per cent victory, while Koshi entered the final remaining second in the league round. 

The technically sound departmental side restricted Koshi Province at 100/6 in the allocated 20-overs match. 

Binu Budha grabbed two wickets while Rekha Rawal, Sonu Khadka, and Nary Thapa contributed one wicket apiece in APF’s victory. 

Skipper Rubina Chhetri smashed the highest 35 runs off 41 balls, which included four boundaries. Lakita Rajbanshi hit 21 runs off 21 balls and Apsari Begam scored 10 runs off 24 balls. 

Put on to bat first, APF scored the highest total of 154 runs of the Lalitpur Mayor’s Cup with the loss of one wicket in the allocated 20 overs. 

The previous best was 144 runs scored by host Lalitpur XI during the maiden edition of the tournament.

Skipper Sita Rana Magar and Indu Barma made a record 136-run partnership for a record total. 

Opener Rana Magar smashed the highest 79 runs off 68 balls that included nine boundaries and two sixes. Barma also delivered her half-ton (51) runs off 41 balls that included four boundaries and a single six. 

Alisha Khadiya was the only wicket-taker for Koshi.

Magar bags Player of the Series APF’s skipper Rana Magar was declared the Player of the Series after scoring 214 runs from five matches, including the final. Magar also dominated in bowling, claiming eight wickets in the five innings 

she played. 

Magar’s good form earned her four Player of the Match trophies out of the five matches in the championship. She played a perfect captaincy role during the championship, and her team APF completed a hat-trick of titles, winning all three editions of the Lalitpur Mayor Women’s Championship.

Skipper of Koshi Province Rubina Chhetri lifted the Best Batter title after scoring 139 runs from five innings.

Nisha Shah of Koshi Province was declared the Best Bowler after picking six wickets from five matches.

Likewise, the title winner APF received Rs. 200,000, and the first runner-up Koshi Province was satisfied with Rs. 100,000.
