KP Oli FC into semi-finals

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 26: Host KP Oli FC entered the semi-finals of the ongoing KP Oli National Football Championship after beating Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) by 5-4 in the penalty shootout in the match held at ANFA Complex, Satdobato, Lalitpur on Saturday.

The quarterfinal between host KP Oli FC and Jawalakhel Youth Club match headed to the penalty kicks after both teams played 1-1 draw in the regular 90th minute.

Bikram Lama, Aditya Shakya, Ashok Khawas, Laken Limbu and Anil Maharjan netted from the spot kicks to secure KP Oli FC a place in the last four of the tournament.

Similarly, Simant Thapa, Samir Raj Thokar, Foden Fofana and Abdulaziz Nishonboev netted during the shootout for JYC while their striker Nkoto Masoabi’s spot kick was saved by host team goalie Purna Chemjong. KP Oli FC goalie Purna Chemjong was declared the Player of the Match for his outstanding penalty save that secured victory for his team.

Earlier, Rahul broke the deadlock for JYC in the 43rd minute to put his team ahead. Ajay Martins saved the host from the defeat after he leveled the score 1-1 for host in the 69th minute of the match.

 KP Oli FC will meet two times Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League Champion Machhindra Football Club in the semi-finals on Monday.

Meanwhile, Machhindra cruised into the semi-finals after beating Church Boys United by 2-1 in the quarterfinals. Satdobato Youth Club (SYC) will encounter Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) in the first semi-finals 

on Sunday.
