By Our Correspondent,Nepalgunj, Jan. 28: Nepalgunj Ayurveda General Hospital, believed to be the country’s biggest private-owned ayurvedic hospital, has come into operation in Nepalgunj since Friday.
The 15-bed hospital has been set up at Adarsha Nagar Chowk in Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City. The hospital will operate under Nepalgunj Health Campus. It was inaugurated by Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, Nepali Congress spokesperson and former foreign minister.
“This is the biggest Ayurvedic hospital operated by private sector. It is a big investment for the country,” said Dr. Mahat. Similarly, Nepal Ayurveda Medical Council Chairman Dr. Santosh Kumar Thakur has appreciated the construction of the hospital.
“More people are getting attracted towards ayurvedic treatment in recent years. The hospital will help cure several patients through Ayurveda system,” said Dr. Thakur.
“The hospital will be promoting quality ayurvedic treatment to the general public at a time when the government has been trying to promote ayurveda,” Dr. Thakur added.
According to Nepalgunj Ayurveda General Hospital chairman Maikulal Balmiki, people’s trust in ayurveda has increased as the system of Ayurveda treatment has less side-effect.
“Ayurveda also treats an illness completely. The locals in our area were demanding an ayurvedic hospital, leading us to take the initiative, and now we have one,” said Balmiki.
The hospital’s management committee informed that they plan to increase the hospital’s bed capacity and add equipment and services in the days to come.
On the occasion of the hospital’s inauguration, a free health camp was organised. “More than 500 individuals came for diagnosis and consultation from ayurvedic health experts,” said Prabhakar Mishra, chief administrative officer of Nepalgunj Ayurveda General Hospital. The camp also provided eye-checkup in coordination with Gaurav Smriti and Be Yourself Foundation.
