Six dialysis machines added in Bheri Hospital

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Nepalgunj, Jan. 23: Bheri Hospital of Nepalgunj has added six more machines to provide easy dialysis service to  the kidney patients. 

Previously, dialysis service was being provided through four machines, but from now onward, the service will be provided through 10 machines every day.

Minister for Health and Population Padam Giri inaugurated the dialysis room on Sunday. 

On the occasion, Minister Giri said that the hospital was providing quality health services in spite of limited resources and means, adding that the services of Bheri Hospital were exemplary for other hospitals.

"The main objective of the government is to provide access to quality health services to the people," said Minister Giri. 

He also said that the government would make the health insurance programme more effective.  

"The health insurance programme will be made more systematic and effective." Minister Giri said after inspecting various units and wards of the hospital. He also met patients and their relatives and inquired about the condition of services in the hospital.

Dr. Roshan Pokharel, Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, said that Bheri Hospital is in the process of upgrading.

“We are in the process of upgrading Bheri Hopsital as a specialised hospital with 500 beds," said Pokharel, "The Organisation and Management (ONM) survey has been sent to the Ministry of Finance for approval to match the staff positions.

Dr. Badri Chapagai, chief medical superintendent of the hospital, said that the number of patients coming to seek services at the 132-year-old Bheri Hospital has, of late, increased. 

He informed about various services being provided by the hospital and added that they were in the process of demolishing the dilapidated hospital building and constructing a new one for the expansion of the services.

Meanwhile, the team including Minister Giri reached the Anjani Mata Kitchen operating on the hospital premises and ate with the patients and their relatives. 

Food is served in the kitchen at the rate of Rs.40 per platter.  Minister Giri also inspected Sushil Koirala Prakhar Cancer Hospital in Khajura on Sunday.
