Farmers sell milk at doorsteps

By Our Correspondent,Sarlahi, Jan. 23: Livestock farmers of Sarlahi have started earning good income after selling milk from home.

Now, vehicles have started reaching every village to collect milk from the farmers.

The dairy operators themselves and the young people who collect milk from the farmers and sell in the dairy go to the houses and collect milk.

After dairy operators have started collecting milk by reaching farmers' houses, there is no problem in selling milk to the farmers who raise cows and buffaloes.

Here now milk is collected from farmers in every village.

After selling milk from home, farmers in rural areas have started rearing cows and buffaloes for milk.

Binda Chauhan of Ishworpur Municipality-12, Kalinjore said that a vehicle comes to her house daily to collect milk.

Chauhan said that no matter how much milk is produced, it is easy to sell it.

"The vehicle comes to pick up the milk early in the morning and in the evening, it is a big relief for farmers," Chauhan said. "We have been able to spend a good amount of money by selling milk.”

Farmers here were in trouble until a few years ago due to inability to sell milk. Farmers are encouraged to raise cows and buffaloes now that they can sell milk from home.

Dairy operators even provide money for farmers at their home. Farmers here are selling milk at Rs. 70 to 80 per litre.

Ramsharan Mainali, who has been operating a dairy in Hariwan Municipality-4, Sasapur, said that he buys more than 1,000 litres of milk from farmers every day.

"Farmers who have farms of cows and buffaloes and young people who work to collect milk from farmers supply milk to the dairy themselves. Otherwise, we go to other farmers' houses to collect milk," said Mainali.

According to dairy operators, more than 30,000 litres of milk is produced in Sarlahi daily.

Farmers who have no other source of income are happy after being able to sell milk from home.
