By Our Correspondents,Janakpurdham/Surkhet, Jan. 19: Janamat Party’s Babita Kumari Ishar has been elected Deputy Speaker of Madhes Province. She secured 72 votes of 101 Provincial Assembly members present at the voting held on Wednesday, said Govinda Bahadur Neupane, who chaired the Provincial Assembly meeting in the capacity of the senior most members.
Meanwhile, CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Yasodha Neupane has been elected the Deputy-Speaker of Karnali Province.
Speaker Nanda Gurung of Karnali Provincial Assembly announced after the voting on Wednesday that Neupane was elected the Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Assembly securing 24 votes of the 38-members present in the Provincial Assembly during the voting.
Provincial Assembly members of CPN-UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have cast votes in her favour.
Total 14 votes were cast against Neupane, she added. Neupane is proposed by Krishna Bahadur GC and seconded by Binod Kumar Shah, who is the Minister without portfolio in Karnali Province. She was elected to the Provincial Assembly from Kalikot.
Nepali Congress’s Indra Kumar Shahi has also filed her nomination for the post. He received only 14 votes.
Likewise, our Deukhuri correspondent added that newly appointed Speaker Tularam Gharti and Deputy Speaker Manju KC Khand of Lumbini Province took the oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday.
Speaker Gharti was administered the oath by Province Chief Amik Sherchan while Deputy Speaker Khan was administered the oath by Speaker Gharti.
CPN (MC)’s Gharti and RPP’s Khand were elected unopposed in the respective posts on Tuesday.
