By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Jan. 5: 16th International Trade Fair, Domestic Industry Festival and Organic Agriculture Fair-2079 have been scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from the first week in February.

The Federation of Nepal Household and Small Industries organizes the fair every year with the aim of promoting domestic production. However, it was postponed for the past three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at a press meet in Kathmandu on Thursday Umesh Prasad Singh, president of the Federation, said that the exhibition will reflect the more than six lakh micro, domestic and small industries and entrepreneurs involved in agricultural business across the country.

"Let's use Nepalese products, let's be proud of being Nepalese" is the slogan of the exhibition, he said adding that the fair would showcase the products of industries in comparative advantage areas and promote business.

He also said highlighting domestic products produced by small-scale industries in Nepal would be the attraction of the exhibition.

According to him, entrepreneurs from Nepal and SAARC countries including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and China will participate in the exhibition. It is expected that 200 stalls will be arranged in the exhibition and more than two lakh visitors will visit the fair. “It is predicted that there will be an economic turnover of more than 70 million rupees during the fair,” he added.

In order to make Nepal's organic products export-oriented and to attract international businessmen, the government of Nepal is encouraging organic products and consumers are also aware of consuming such products. Chairman Singh informed that in collaboration with the Organic Association, organic agricultural products will be exhibited through a separate pavilion.

The aim of the Organic Agriculture Fair is to promote the market of organic products by developing a common platform of producers and consumers to support the organic campaign by giving information to the general public about organic products and to increase public awareness of pure food and healthy life. According to the organizers, the organization will support the national and international marketing of the products, bring producers and consumers together in one place, minimize the price difference and provide organic products at reasonable prices, and interact with the stakeholders on organic issues.

Organic Association of Nepal, Government of Nepal, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply - Trade and Export Promotion Center, Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Bagmati Provincial Government, Sudur Paschim Provincial Government etc. will remain. Likewise, other government agencies and non-governmental organizations will be its promoters and supporters.
