BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Chitwan, Dec. 3: Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality of Chitwan is going to start hospital service from the third week of December.

The health post in the rural municipality has been upgraded and the final preparations are being made for the operation of a 15-bed hospital.

Dan Bahadur Gurung, chairman of the rural municipality, informed that the work of connecting technology, arranging materials, and preparing treatment rooms is currently underway for the operation of the hospital. He informed that the hospital is gearing up to operate from third week of December. He said that since the health workers including doctors for the hospital have been trained on Thursday, now the patients do not have to go elsewhere for treatment.

Once the services come online, the compulsion of local citizens to go to private hospitals outside the municipality for general treatment will come to an end. "We had already decided in the month of May for the operation of the hospital's services, and accordingly we are in the final preparations,” he said.

On the special request of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality for the operation of the hospital, a team including the then lawmaker Krishna Bhakta Pokharel met with the Minister for Health and Population Bhawani Khapung a few months ago and managed to purchase a new digital X-ray machine bed, monitors and some medicines. Medical supplies were provided by the government worth Rs 8.6 million.

The technical team installed the X-ray machine and started the service on Wednesday, said Basudev Sapkota, head of the health branch of the rural municipality.
