Nepal European Film Festival

A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Oct. 18: The 11th edition of Nepal
European Film Festival (NEUFF) will be held this year from October 28 to
November 1 in Kathmandu.
The festival will also be organised at
Mid-West University in Surkhet from November 5 to 8.
Altogether
13 European films and three Nepali films will be screened in the festival,
informed the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal at a press meet
organised here on Friday, October 14.
The
festival in Kathmandu will be held at Nepal Film Development Board (FDB).
According
to EU Delegation, the festival this year will be hybrid, both physical and
online.
The
online festival will start with the physical festival on October 28 and remain
open until November 28.
The
online festival will have eight films along with the Nepali film- Gurkha Girl
and 'Butterfly on Window Pane'.
Out
of 13 European films, three films 'Gods of Molenbeek', 'Lola' and 'Lilly' will
have Nepali subtitles.
This
year, popular actress Keki Adhikari will be the festival brand ambassador,
informed the organiser at the press meet.
The
Nepali films 'Yet Another Winter' directed by Kiran Shrestha and 'Gurkha Girls'
directed by Bishal Rokka Magar will be shown in the festival.
Besides
the festival, three online events on different aspects of filmmaking will be
organised.
In
Surkhet, a masterclass will be conducted
by filmmaker Sujit Bidari for the filmmakers and film students from Karnali
Province.

the physic and online festivals are free of charge and the online festival can

According
to Joelle Hivonnet, Deputy Head of Delegation, they are bringing 13 top films
from Europe along with three Nepali films from Nepal.
Cinemas remain at the forefront of cultural
and intellectual life and are an effective means of promoting cultural exchanges,
said Hivonnet.
Actress
Keki Adhikari said the film festival will help transfer Nepali culture to the
world as the film is the easiest way to exchange cultures of different
societies.
