By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Sept. 3: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha Friday began a special cleanliness campaign of tourist sites from Kathmandu’s Hanumandhoka Durbar Square.
Volunteers from the local government, community, youth organisations, education institutions, security forces and visitors joined hands to clean the Hanumandhoka Durbar Square and nearby areas of Basantapur.
The campaign has been initiated under the motto of ‘Clean Nepal-Green Nepal Campaign for Tourism Revival’ with the aim of keeping all the heritage sites clean and attractive.
“Our heritage and tourism sites should be kept clean. It is a must. The campaign has been initiated to keep the tourist sites clean 24/7,” said Minister Shrestha.
The ministry has launched the clean-up campaign in the cooperation of the local governments, non-government organisations and education institutions.
The campaign is also a part of tourism revival action plan implemented by Minister Shrestha.
Keeping the heritage sites clean will be a top priority, Minister Shrestha said.
