Three firms fined for violating business code

Kathmandu, April 8: The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumers' Rights has fined three firms for violating business code.

The firms were found violating business code and rights of consumers during market monitoring on Tuesday.

Shankar Grocery and MDR Confectionary at Kuleshwor were fined Rs 20,000 each. 

Gupta Gudpak, a confectionary shop, at Gongabu, was fined Rs 5,000. These firms were punished as per Consumers Protection Act, 2075.

Total 39 stores were monitored by the authority. Among those, 36 were directed for correction in business practice, thereby adhering to consumers' rights. The monitoring team comprised the representatives from Department, consumers' rights defenders and local level representatives. 

The Department has been conducting the market monitoring regularly.  (RSS)
