9th National Games: Gandaki province-level tournament to begin today

Kaski, Sept 1 : The Gandaki provincial-level tournament is taking place from today onward as part of the 9th National Games.    


As many as 3,223 participants, including the players, coaches, and managers of all 11 districts of Gandaki are attending the national games.    


The Gandaki province has started a selection-round tournament for the ninth National Games to be held in the province on October 14-20.   

 
The selection tournament is taking place in Pokhara Stadium. According to member-secretary of Province Sports Council Tej Bahadur Gurung, women and men players, coaches, and managers from 11 districts are taking part in the province-level tournament.  

  
After the provincial-level selection of players, they would be taken to the closed-door training.    


Membe-Secretary Gurung said as many as 5,677 players who had participated in the district-level selection are also participating in the province-level screening.   

 
Each sport has one coach and one manager. Kaski is participating in all 35 games in the provincial selection round while Manang is only competing in five games.    
A total of 673 players were selected from Kaski for province-level tournaments from the district-level screening held on August 24-30.    


According to the Council, 166 players from Mustang, 283 from Myagdi, 361 from Baglung, 223 from Parbat, 347 from Syangja, and 303 from Tanahun have been selected for the province-level tournament.    


Likewise, 213 from Lamjung, 230 from Gorkha, 46 from Manang, and 378 from Nawalpur districts are contesting in the province-level tournaments.  

  
Gandaki province is participating in all 38 games including 36 sports and two processions in the 9th National Games.  

  
Hosts shared that the winning players would be awarded medals, certificates, and trophies.   

 
As many as 709 players are participating in the National Games from Gandaki province alone. (RSS)
